Kenyan civil servants are facing a deadline to get vaccinated against Covid-19 by the end of today.
Earlier this month Joseph Kinyua, Kenya’s head of public service, ordered all public service workers to get a jab or face unspecified consequences.
He said this was because of the low uptake of vaccines, especially among teachers and security service workers.
About 3% of Kenya’s adult population – 2.4 million people – have so far been vaccinated, according to the health ministry.
Of these, over 780,000 have been fully vaccinated and 1.6 million people have received one jab.
