Dozens die in clash with Madagascar cattle thieves
At least 46 people have died in Madagascar in a clash between cattle thieves and villagers.
The attack took place in the Marovitsika commune in the south-east of the country.
Around 120 armed men carried out the raid on two villages, Ambohitsohy and Vohitsimbe.
The country’s human rights commission says it will conduct an independent investigation into the attacks.
It says it will also help provide better security for local people.
Clashes between cattle thieves and villagers happen frequently in the area.
