Federal government backs up Tigray ceasefire call
There are some more details on the breaking story that Ethiopia’s federal government has accepted a ceasefire according to the state broadcaster, EBC.
Earlier the interim administration in Tigray had asked the government to agree to call a halt to the fighting.
Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports say the rebel forces have entered the regional capital, Mekelle.
People from the city told the BBC they are celebrating the departure of federal forces.
